Dual Enrollment OptionsBroward CollegeThe Dual Enrollment Program at Broward College (BC) is an accelerated program that allows eligible public/charter, private and home school secondary students to take postsecondary coursework and simultaneously earn both high school and college credits, saving both time and money! Dual Enrollment students are exempt from the payment of application fees, tuition and laboratory fees. College courses are offered at BC campuses and centers, including the Broward College Online campus, and at several high school campuses. Florida Atlantic UniversityDual Enrollment is a program that allows eligible high school students to earn credit toward high school graduation and future college degree programs. Credits earned through Dual Enrollment will be applied to the student’s high school transcript and FAU transcript. Career Dual Enrollment (See Attachment)Earn your high school diploma, obtain an industry, obtain an industry credential or license, and earn articulated college credit all while in high school. There are three steps to complete the application process for Career Dual Enrollment. They are: 1) Application signed by your School Counselor 2) Proof that you completed the CDE Orientation (Dates provided by the school you choose to attend). 3) Minimum Basic Scores on the Basic Skill Test taken either at Atlantic, McFatter, or Sheridan Technical Ceter. Service Learning is defined as an educational method by which participants learn and develop through active participation in service that is conducted in and meets the needs of a community. Service learning is coordinated with a school or community service program and the community. It is integrated into and influences the lifelong learning of a participant and includes structured time for the participants to reflect on the service experience. Service-learning teaches the skills of civil participation and develops an ethic of service and civic responsibility. Students can provide service in the community voluntarily to the public, nonprofit agencies, civic, charitable, and governmental organizations. Our school offers opportunities for students to earn service hours on campus. Service Learning and Volunteer Service Program is divided into three tiers:
A great website to look for opportunities for service hours is https://www.handsonbroward.org. It is never too late to start earning your service hours. All juniors and seniors planning to attend college should take the ACT and/or SAT Exam. Students can take these exams as often as they wish until they are satisfied with their scores. Registration is offered online. Fee waivers are available for those who qualify.
