Our primary mission is fostering student academic success. Students seeking full-time enrollment at BVS must be prepared to engage in a rigorous academic program. Efficient time management skills and self-discipline are vital to success. BVS administrators and school counselors provide coaching and ongoing support to assist students with the transition from traditional schooling to virtual learning.

Grades K-5

The application window for grades K-5 was open from April 4 to July 12, 2024. Applications for the 2025-26 school year will be accepted beginning April 2025. If you'd like to be notified when our application is available, please complete this form.

Our K-5 program is operated by K12 Florida (a Florida Department of Education-approved virtual instruction provider).

Important Information for All Grade Levels

BVS serves as Broward County's virtual instruction program and satisfies the requirements outlined in Florida Statute 1002.45. Full-time BVS students are registered as public school students, participate in standardized assessments required by the Florida Department of Education, and may earn a Broward County high school diploma entirely online.

Please review the following statements before applying for full-time enrollment:

Becoming a full-time student at Broward Virtual School means you are interested in earning a Broward County high school diploma or enrolling in our full-time elementary or middle school programs.
Applying for enrollment does not guarantee admission.
Students must reside locally.
Full-time students are subject to Broward County School Board policies regarding pupil progression (policy 4000).
Full-time BVS students work on their courses from home or any other remote location but are not registered as home education students with Broward County Public Schools.
New full-time BVS students must complete an orientation session with a parent or guardian before starting courses. BVS Counselors will contact students and parents with an orientation/registration date and time before initiating courses.
Full-time elementary school students are assigned to K12 Florida teachers. K12 Florida is a virtual education provider approved by the Florida Department of Education and has been our partner since 2009.

How does online elementary school work?

As a parent, you play an active role by partnering with teachers and your child - while Stride K12 and your school provide resources, advice, and access to the support of an online parent community.

Student's Role

In elementary school, content is a blend of online and offline learning, with hands-on materials provided. Students join online class sessions with teachers and can work independently to carying degrees but do require support from their Learning Coach for much of the school day.

Parent's Role

You or another responsible adult act as your child's Learning Coach. Learning Coaches work with teachers - helping to monitor student attendance and mastery of online lessons and assessmnents. On average, you'll spend 4-6 hours a day providing guidance and oversight.

Teacher's Role

State-certified teachers help create student learning plans, monitor progress and attendance, teach live online classes, and hold online help sessions and office hours
