December 2016

• Alexandra Van Hasselt

  This month's Student Spotlight shines on Alexandra Van Hasselt.  Alexandra is an extraordinary BVS senior who also happens to be a professional singer and actress!  Alexandra recently performed in the musical "Swing, Swing, Swing" at the Stage Door Theatre in Coral Springs.  The production ran from October 7 to November 20.  In addition to being an incredibly talented performer, Alexandra maintains an impressive GPA and has earned straight As since entering BVS in 2015.

• Sebastian Serpa

  Congratulations to BVS sophomore Sebastian Serpa for being nominated for this month's BVS Student Spotlight!
  
  Sebastian is an extraordinary young man. After participating in a tournament with the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team (U-16) in May, Sebastian was invited to play with a professional club in Italy.  Awesome!!! 
  
  Sebastian manages his day by completing his school work each morning before soccer practice in the afternoon.  He speaks to his teachers in the evenings via Skype.  The six hour time difference between Italy and Florida is not a barrier! Sebastian's teachers are quite impressed with both his academic and athletic talents.  
  
  Sebastian is in his third year at BVS.  What an outstanding example he sets for his peers.  Kudos to Sebastian for his outstanding scholarship and athleticism!

• Sophia C.

  Broward Virtual School student Sophia Chouinard was crowned champion at the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.  Sophia is presently a ninth grader and has attended BVS since sixth grade.  In addition to being a  talented athlete, Sophia is also a top scholar.
